Toy Organization… One Step at a Time

I was looking up ideas for teaching 3 year olds, this morning.  My son is almost 3 1/2 and won’t start Pre-K until next fall… but he’s soaking up so much information.  He knows his letters, shapes and colors, and so much more.  I don’t wish to force too much structured teaching on him at this stage, but I do want to clear out some clutter in our lives and leave more opportunity for intentional learning.  (Whether he knows it is intentional or not.)

I came across an idea for labeling bins on a toy shelf and realized that when they are set in straight, instead of angled, they are a little more challenging to access.  This means that the kids are less likely to just grab things from all of the bins and trash the play room. So… I got right on organizing.  Purging toys they have outgrown, and ones that they do not enjoy (Goodwill will get them…) and boxing up toys that they haven’t shown much interest in, but are keepers.

 And then… the labels.
