Prioritized Prayer

There are many things that I intend to do, plan to do, hope to do… and then either end up being too busy to do, or completely forget about doing at all. Unfortunately, sometimes prayer ends up on that list. I know that I am blessed. I have my challenges, as everyone does, but God continues to bless my life around those challenges. For one thing, I have my miracle baby.

I have been trying to focus on improving my life as a means to improving my son’s life. I’m not a drinker, a smoker, a partier. I’m not a fantastic eater, but I’m not near as bad as I used to be. What I am is an overthinker. I listened to a blog the other day that had an intro that made me think of myself right away. Over Thinking Mom, it was. I’ve only listened to one, on the history of mothering, but I loved it, so if you are interested, there you go.

Anyway, did I mention that I get distracted easily? Ignoring the need for prayer regarding my own life and my family’s, I often find myself commiting to continual prayer for friends and members of my extended God-family. Then, something happens that reminds me, oh no!

This week, I’ve decided to use my technology reliance to my advantage… I created a calendar in my google calendars that is just for prayer. My plan is to “schedule” prayers… for upcoming surgeries, pending births, troubled marriages, traveling folks, and so much more. I plan to schedule prayers and followup calls. I desire to make going to God a priority, putting other’s needs on my heart and mind and then giving them to God, and being a better friend by paying attention and following through. What an opportunity to serve others. Prayer works!
