Drip, Drip, Drop… when it rains, it pours

You will have to bear with me, as I’m trying to type this from my phone and the spellcheck and my fingers don’t get along particularly well.  Add to that, being horizontal, with baby attached and you might better grasp why this is challenging.

I know that every mom has her “moments”, good and bad.  This week seemed full of moments for me.  Last week, while we had out of town family visiting, my little boy had a cold, which quickly spread to hubby, baby and myself.  Not to mention our guest.  I had just begun getting the kids out more, getting involved in a playgroup, and the new germies must have taken their toll on our immune systems.  So… Quarantine began.  We finally improved, went to a friend’s house for a birthday party and then found out hubby had pink eye.  Both eyes, mind you.  AND, a sinus infection. And ear infection.  While getting ready to go to pharmacy for meds, toddler dropped a gallon glass jug of apple juice near his foot and had to be taken to ER to determine if he needed stitches.  $200 for a Bandaid… So far… Then the kiddo had his own mess that needed picking up.  Next day, hubby mentions that one of the dogs has ear infection and must go to vet.  One on my back, one on my front, and a pup on a leash, the children and I strolled into the vet’s office.  Somewhere in the middle of all of this, I dropped my phone, shattering the screen, and got a replacement thanks to insurance.  However, an identical phone was backordered, so I am learning how to work a new phone. Oy.

After explaining how the past week was, would you believe that I’m more exhausted from the last 24 hours?  And only because baby girl is teething like crazy and won’t lay without me and little man is so sick of bring quarantined and by golly… I need a nap.

Don’t let anyone fool you.  This is the best job ever.  But if I had a pause button and could walk away knowing I wouldn’t miss a minute, and go take a nap, get a massage, sit in a hot tub… I would.  Why am I telling you?  Because the beautifully manicured, well rested, well tempered mommies with perfectly calm and well behaved little ones on tv are just not real.  And sometimes, when it rains, it pours.  But its ok… Because God is my umbrella.  And today is only one day.
