Perspective Check

Yesterday was one of those days. The morning went fairly smoothly. I took the kids to Walmart to pick up a few supplies to make more Angry Bird Beanbags.
Unfortunately, Walmart’s felt selection was not impressive… and by the time we finished shopping, the kids were exhausted! I know, you are probably thinking, how long does it take to get through the felt section… but I figured that I should probably get some other things checked off of my list.. like Borax and Baking Soda and Vinegar and a Bucket (all diaper related… I’ll update on that later…)
We came home, the kids promptly ate snack and napped and then things were going great. The kids were playing, I was able to catch up on a few phone calls and go through baby boxes… and then it happened. Everything started falling apart. The kids started getting super crabby and fighting, I found an ant – which shouldn’t have been as upsetting as it was – and panicked about bugs, I had some challenges ordering pizza, one of the dogs started puking and THEN my phone’s power button stopped working. This wouldn’t be an issue if it wasn’t the ONLY button that can make it turn on or off or wake the screen, etc. Finally, I started getting nauseated and a migraine was in progress. Oh no! By the time my hubby came home, I was ready to hide. The house was a mess, and so was I.
But it was an opportunity. An opportunity to check my perspective. I started reminding myself of why I was even able to be annoyed by these things. Because of blessings. I HAVE a phone, I HAVE a house, I HAVE children, I HAVE money to order pizza, I HAVE dogs, I HAVE a phone, I HAVE a husband. As my head ached, I took deep breaths and tried not to blow up over my blessings. It could be SO much worse. And it isn’t. And therefore, I had to give God glory, through my frustration, for allowing me so many blessings that I am generally comfortable.
