Preschool Homeschool : The Letter V

We opted to homeschool instead of enrolling our son in standard Pre-K. I am sharing with you some of the activities we did to learn about the letter V. Whether you homeschool or not, these are short and sweet ways to reinforce letter learning.

Walphabet’s ABCs Song

I poured Pickling Salt into a cookie sheet and shook it a bit to make it flat. (You can use whatever salt you want… or sand… or whatever…) Then, I drew an example and the kids practiced “writing” the letter “V”. My son (4) especially loves this activity. My daughter (2) enjoys it too. Fun sensory play!

Tea Time with Tayla – Letter V

We did a V is for Volcano craft, inspired by Color Me Sweet. We put glue on one side of the V and instructed the kids to put strips of tissue paper in, as magma. Then, we put more glue on the same side and flipped it over onto the mountain. They turned out pretty cute. But they were NOTHING compared to the “real” volcano we made later in our lessons.

We did a Volcano Activity, and had a BLAST! The kids had me refill the volcano again and again and again. They showed Poppa. They showed Grandpa. Grandma ran back and forth replenishing supplies. We will be doing it again, I’m sure.
